I am always there, being cradled at the side of your thigh or even by the palm of your hands. I hear everything you say, and sometimes, if you hold me close enough, I can hear what you think.
Remember that one time we got stuck out in the rain, at Johnson Drive and Handerson Avenue? It was when you met Jay, and you used me to call your best friend to talk about how much you liked him. And even though he was 22, 5 years older, you would get him to love you. I was the one that got all jumbled up when you were jumping up and down with me in your hand screaming the first time he called to take you out. I was even peaking out of your pea-coat pocket the night he kissed you, and again when you went a little too far. I rang in alarm when your mother called to say she was going to be home early. I liked Jay at this piont, he didn't distract you from me much. In fact, for him, you used me more.
I was shocked the night you called him to break up. You had met someone new...Lincoln. I stored all your unread text messages from Jay. I deleted all the ones you didn't want your mom to read, but now I wish I had saved them because maybe...just maybe...I could have helped save you. I let you dial the call when you agreed to meet him by the reservoir that night.Ohhh, but i shouldn't have.
I began to shiver when your parents tried to reach you the next morning, I was lying all alone on the ground. But that wouldn't have mattered, or helped the shivering. Your body was already as cold as death.

Wow, this is intriguing. You did an amazing job of making the modern world poetic. This piece reminds of this film by a couple of my favorite directors!
